Velavox is an award-winning alternative pop duo from a tiny town on Vancouver Island, made up of Nicole Gibson (vocals, synths) and Chris Kelly (vocals, synths, electric guitar). Known for their heartfelt lyrics and dynamic production, the duo blends shimmering synths, electric guitar, and dual vocals to create a sound that is both emotionally resonant and sonically rich.
Velavox has released a series of tracks in collaboration with various artists and producers, earning them spots on prominent Spotify playlists such as New Music Friday, Mint Canada, Tantra, and Dance Fresh Finds. They have opened for notable acts including Hey Ocean! (2025) and joined Ria Mae on her sold-out 2026 tour.
The duo’s momentum has been fueled by support from major Canadian music development platforms, including being selected for the RBCxMusic First Up program and masterclass, as well as the Canadian Music Incubator.
In 2024 and 2025, Velavox focused on live performance, playing festivals across British Columbia and beyond, including BreakOut West Festival (Saskatoon), Watson St. Music Festival (Vancouver), Jam in Jubilee (Abbotsford), REVY Live! (Revelstoke), Parks Alive (Kelowna), Name it Yourself (Squamish), Chilliwack Mural Festival, and AMPS Festival (North Vancouver), among others.
Building on this momentum, the duo will release a brand-new EP in 2026, marking an exciting new chapter in their evolving sound.
Their music is deeply personal, exploring themes such as mental health and self-acceptance, encouraging listeners to embrace all parts of themselves and their creative journey.
